    Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to common questions about Milesmate calculators and how to maximize your airline rewards.

How does Milesmate calculate airline miles and Loyalty Points?

Milesmate uses the latest airline earning charts and rules to show exactly how many miles and Loyalty Points you'll earn for your flight. The calculator supports both revenue-based (price driven) and distance-based (miles flown × fare class) accrual methods. Each result is broken down step by step so you can see base miles, cabin bonuses, and elite status multipliers.

Which airline programs are supported by Milesmate?

Milesmate currently covers the four largest U.S. airline programs: American Airlines AAdvantage®, Delta SkyMiles®, United MileagePlus®, and Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan®. Each calculator is tailored to that program's rules, so you'll see results that reflect how the airline actually credits miles and status points.

Can I use Milesmate to decide if booking with miles or cash is a better deal?

Yes. Milesmate's "Miles vs. Cash" tool compares the cash price of a ticket to the miles required and shows the cents-per-mile value you'd get. If the value is higher than our benchmark (1.40¢ per mile for AAdvantage® by default), it's usually a good redemption.

Do Basic Economy or partner flights earn fewer miles?

Often they do. Basic Economy fares on U.S. carriers may earn reduced miles or Loyalty Points. Partner flights can earn based on distance, but some booking classes have lower percentages—or may not earn at all. Milesmate flags these cases so you know before you book.
