The Chase Sapphire Lounge at LGA has been open since January 2024, and has been awarded World's Best Third-Party Lounge by Business Traveller. I visited on a recent evening following a quick weekend in NYC and came away genuinely impressed. While the space was busy, as most lounges with credit card entry are, the second level offered a quieter atmosphere away from the main level of the lounge.

I spoke with Raffaele, the lounge manager, who shared that at 21,800 square feet across two floors, this is the largest lounge location in the Chase Sapphire network. Here's a quick review about my experience visiting the space during a busy Sunday evening.

    Getting There

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at LGA lounge is in Terminal B past security, towards the direction of gates 41 to 59, and next to the Brooklyn Diner on level 4. The entrance is hard to miss, with a reflective blue facade directly to the left to the Amex Centurion Lounge. The two lounges share a wall, which makes for interesting competitive dynamics given that they're arguably the two strongest lounge networks currently operating in the US.

Before entering the space and elevator to the lounge, there is a "bouncer" who performs a soft check on eligibility for entering. The reason was clear, as we saw a several people who were confused that their standard Chase cards wouldn't grant access to the space.

After entering, take an elevator down to Level 1, then turn right and follow a hallway until you see a set of sliding glass doors that open into the main lounge area.

    The Space

The Chase Sapphire Lounge at LGA follows the design language we're seeing with many new lounges. It includes plenty of neutrals, soothing blues, tree-trunk-like pillars that extend through to the second level, and a lot of greenery that makes the space feel less like an airport lounge. One downside is that there is no natural light due to being below ground level. That said, well done lighting design, a high ceiling height and open floor plan prevent it from feeling too compressed.

In terms of layout, the ground floor has the main bar, seating in multiple configurations like booths, tables, and lounge chairs, and some quiet nook areas The second level is much quieter - fewer people seem to make it up there. If you want to decompress or get some work done, that's where to go.

A few other notable features across the lounge include: a game room with a retro arcade, a photo booth (out of order on my visit), 30 minute complimentary facial treatments bookable through the Chase app, nap pods also reservable in the app, and the private Reserve Suites - Chase's lounge-within-a-lounge concept accessible for a fee. There are three Reserve Suites, two of which can be combined to accommodate as many as 15 people.

The space also features art curated from the JPMorgan Chase Art Collection, with work from Jeffrey Gibson featured prominently.

One thing worth noting is that there are no showers, one gap compared to the Centurion Lounge next door. This may not be surprising though, considering LGA's lack of long-haul or international flights.

    Food and Drink

Ordering is via QR code at every table. In my experience the process was smooth and only took around 15 minutes from order to arrival. The food program is genuinely good for a credit card lounge, drawing from a set of real New York culinary name.

There's also a buffet on the lower level offering a variety of plated dishes and desserts. While I didn't partake, the spread looked to be high-quality and more premium than your typical Admirals Club or Flagship Lounge.

Like the food menu, most beverages are requested via QR code (or at the downstairs bar.) The lounge does offer several self-service beverage bars throughout the space, stalked with water, coffee, soft drinks and more.

During our visit we enjoyed the Local LGA Sapphire burger and fries. We found the dish to be well-cooked and proportioned, perfect for a pre-flight meal. In terms of drinks, we sampled the Presqu'ile, Santa Barbara Chardonnay and the Sapphire Spritz cocktail. Chase's signature drink selection is a highlight of the space, offering choices that far exceeds the typical well-drink offerings seen in airline operated lounges.

    Keep in Mind

The busy nature of the space is the main caveat, particularly the ground floor. This is a very popular lounge and it fills up - no surprise with NYC being the home for Chase bank. If you're visiting the space and find it busy, be sure to seek out the second floor - it's quieter, has less foot traffic, and good for work or a proper rest. The facial treatments and nap pods are genuinely useful amenities if your schedule allows, but be sure to book as soon as you arrive to reserve a timeslot.

    Access

Chase Sapphire Reserve, J.P. Morgan Reserve, and Sapphire Reserve for Business primary cardmembers and authorized users can access the Chase Sapphire Lounge. Priority Pass members (without a qualifying Chase card) can access the lounge once per calendar year at no cost - after that, there's a fee. The lounge is not accessible to standard Priority Pass holders the way many other Priority Pass lounges are.

It is worth noting that Priority Pass members (without a qualifying Chase card) with one complimentary visit are often turned away at busier times.

    Final Thoughts

The LGA Sapphire Lounge is genuinely one of the best lounges in the US. The food and beverage program is New York-caliber in a way that most credit card lounges don't manage, the space has real design intent behind it, and the second floor provides the kind of quiet that's rare in a lounge this popular. If you're flying through LGA and hold a Sapphire Reserve, this is a great lounge to build in some time to visit.
