Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge Heathrow T3 – Mini Review
A mini review of the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 3. Quiet seating, runway views, breakfast offerings, showers, and why oneworld Emerald status makes this lounge such a valuable perk.
London Heathrow Terminal 3 has no shortage of lounges, but the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge remains one of the quiet standouts. I had a short visit recently during a quick transfer at Heathrow, and even with limited time, it left a strong impression.
This was a midday weekday visit, arriving into Terminal 3 after a red-eye flight and connecting onward. Not a long layover, but just enough time to appreciate why this lounge is so well regarded.
How to Find the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge
After clearing security or transfers in Terminal 3, follow signs for Lounges and head toward the main lounge corridor. Cathay Pacific's lounge is located near several other oneworld lounges, including Qantas and American. An elevator will take you to the lounge's foyer.
Once inside the Cathay lounge and following the check-in desk, there is a clear split:
- Business Class Lounge straight ahead
- First Class Lounge off to the side, accessed through a separate hallway
Staff are positioned at the entrance and will check eligibility before welcoming you in.
First vs Business Class Sections
The difference between the two spaces is immediately noticeable.
The Business Class section is larger and more active, while the First Class area feels deliberately restrained. Fewer seats, more space between them, and a noticeably calmer atmosphere.
During my visit, the First Class lounge was incredibly quiet, especially considering it was a weekday midday. It felt more like a private library than an airport lounge.

Seating and Views
The seating in the First Class lounge is excellent. Large, comfortable chairs are positioned to take advantage of good views of the airfield, making it an easy place to settle in and decompress.
This is not a high-density space. You're not fighting for outlets or personal space, and conversations stay naturally muted.
Food and Drink
The à la carte dining room appeared closed during my visit, likely due to the time of day and Cathay's departure times. Even so, the lounge offered a solid breakfast spread, including:
- Yogurts
- Fresh fruit
- Pastries
- Additional light breakfast items
Staff were actively circulating through the lounge, clearing plates and checking in with guests, which helped the space feel attended to without being intrusive.

Although it was early, there was also an impressive spread of quality liquor, wines, and beer available.

Showers
The showers were clean, well maintained, and immediately available, with no wait at all. These facilities are shared with the Business Class lounge, but even with shared access, availability was not an issue during my visit.
For a quick connection, having a no-wait shower at Heathrow is a real win. Showers were quite the upgrade from those in Galleries First over in Terminal 5.
Service
From the moment I entered, the welcome from the staff was warm and genuine. This is something Cathay tends to do well, and it showed here. Service throughout the lounge felt natural and attentive rather than scripted.
Why This Lounge Matters for AAdvantage Members
One of the understated perks of the AAdvantage® program is how valuable oneworld status can be outside the U.S.
- AAdvantage Platinum Pro® and Executive Platinum® members receive oneworld Emerald status, which grants access to First Class lounges like this one when flying on a oneworld airline
- AAdvantage Platinum® members receive oneworld Sapphire status, which provides access to Business Class lounges
This means you don't need to be flying Cathay Pacific First Class to enjoy this space. I entered the lounge on a coach ticket. Status alone can unlock access to some of the best First Class lounges in the world, and Heathrow Terminal 3 is a perfect example of that value.

Final Thoughts
Even on a short visit, the Cathay Pacific First Class Lounge at Heathrow Terminal 3 delivers exactly what you want from a premium lounge: quiet, space, thoughtful service, and a place to reset between flights.
I'll be passing through Heathrow again next month and am already looking forward to spending more time here. If your travels take you through Terminal 3 and you have access, this lounge is absolutely worth prioritizing.
